COLORADO. YOU BETTER GET YOU SOME!
Here are some cool pics from our adventure to Colorado. We met 8 of our peeps out there after Matt and me drove out with our driftboats and teamed up with Herb from Yampa Valley Anglers. We had an unbelievable time. All 8 of our folks are going back for Summer 2014. Due to the great success, we are adding a second week. This trip will be priced right. Let us know if you are interested. Spots are already getting filled. –Jamie
Cool fish pics with me sporting some new Fayettechill gear. Fayettechill is based here in the Ozarks. Check it out!
The Boss of the Moss
I had Loren Roberts a few weeks ago. What a blast! We were able to chase down some really nice rainbows
Dry Run Fun!
We took a group of young men from St. George’s in Memphis, TN to Dry Run Creek for an Arkansas Fly Fishing Experience. Here are a couple of pics from that day.
As you can tell, fly fishing for Arkansas Rainbows has been phenomenal. For that matter, fishing for browns has been pretty dang good, too!
AND THEN THIS HAPPENED…
We spent the last couple of weeks hanging around the White and Norfork waiting for shad. Generally, this time of year, generation from the dams is the norm, but, of course, this year has been different. We were there to take advantage of small blasts of water. It defininitely brought some nice fish to the boat using a variety of techniques (including a new one for streamers). We were wrapping up our annual winter trip with the St. Louis boys on Sunday. We started the day with heavy rains, no generation, and then this happened…
Shane Bevel, photographer, and Kelly Bostian, sports writer for Tulsa World, fished with Jamie last week. Check out the article including video from their trip. Jamie will be speaking in Tulsa this week to the bird dog club, Tulsa Fly Fishers, and local fly shop, The Gadget Company.
Arkansas Waters Offer Plenty of Action
Jamie recently did a podcast for Orvis with Tom Rosenbauer on catching trout during the winter on a tailwater. Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy! How to Catch Winter Tailwater Trout
This past summer, my buddy Hays and I decided to skip town during the peak of the summer heat and drought and head west. We loaded the truck up with way too much gear and a drift boat in tow. We fished in southern Colorado and New Mexico. This is a short video we had put together that turned out to be a pretty cool way to remember our trip. We had some brought some great fish to the boat on hoppers and ants as well as a variety of midges and even got a few of those fish on the Juan to take a big streamer! San Juan video
GUIDES’ DAY OFF: A PHOTO ESSAY
Last week, Matt, Tony, and I took off for the Norfork River to do a float trip in Matt’s new little drifter. Man, we had a blast! We decided to spend the day on a new streamer technique. The river absolutely came to life for us. We lost count of the numbers of quality trout that came to the boat. Enjoy! –Jamie
RAINBOWS ARE STEALING THE SHOW!
As many of you know, fall was shaping up to be a strange one - low water, no generation on the heels of a drought, and high water temps this past summer. However, there are sections of the river with “alpha” rainbows galore. Some of these fish are reaching massive sizes – going through equipment making the experienced angler look like a newbie. This has been the silver lining that most are unaware. If you get a chance, you need to come try this. Oh yeah, did I mention we are catching some really nice browns in the pursuit of these thumper rainbows? –Jamie
HERB JOINS THE JRFFA TEAM FOR THE FALL 2012 SEASON!
Ryan Herbert, “Herb”, is down from Steamboat Springs, Colorado helping out Jamie Rouse and his crew for the fall season. Herb has been putting people on big fish for the past ten years all over America. He is very motivated to catch fish and to have a lot of fun in the process. Herb will be with us now through the end of December. Guaranteed good times with Herb!!
